Plan your Holidays
1- Check the weather
2 - What's on
Only a short time in London and wondering what to do? Here's
a little list of what we recommend people do:, according to
the length of their stay:
3 - We Recommend
Here are a few suggestions of how to make the most of your
holiday in London.
1 day
Sightseeing tour (any company) as they are pretty much
the same ie: price and sights. At least the you can say you've
seen all the usual sights when you get home! You probably won't
have much time to stop and see any one sight in any great detail,
but with the Hop on Hop off ticket you'll get an overview
of London. Anyway if you only come to London for one day it
serves you right, you can't come to the most exciting/interesting
city in the world and stay for a day! You would see: The
Tower of London, Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square,
St Pauls Cathedral, The Thames, Picadilly Circus, The Museums,
the London Eye etc
2 days
Here you can go into a little more depth. We recommend you
buy a one day travel card for about £3.75 for zones
1 and 2, as long as you use the underground or buses 2 or 3
times you will save money in the end. I still recommend doing
the sightseeing tour to start (to give you and overview
at least). Then it really depends what you would like to do
as you would have time to see at least one thing in more depth
such as a museum or shopping. You must see The Tower
of London, you can go for lunch in St Katherine's Dock, which
is lovely, in the Dickens Inn. Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square,
Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, can be walked between easliy.
3 Days
Again you have more time to go into even more depth. I would
recommend seeing St Paul's Cathedral and go up to the whispering
Gallery and the catacombs, although it's not cheap, we feel
it's worth it. You should try to get up the London Eye
as you get an amazing view of London and all for £10.00!
4 Days
Here you can start to really go crazy! If the weathers nice,
you could take a trip up the Thames from Westminster to Greenwich
which is always nice. The Tate Modern is definitely worth
a visit too. Portobello market is worth a visit but it's
only on Saturdays, and Camden market (Saturdays and Sundays)
is great for the young and trendy!
Check out the Time out guide to what's on in London
too as it always has the most up to date stuff to do in London.
